Cycling in the Vinschgau: from the valley cycle path to the Stelvio

Cycling in the Vinschgau starts with the cycle path: about 80 kilometres from the Reschen Pass to Meran, almost all of it downhill. Road cyclists have the Stelvio, mountain bikers the trails of the Sonnenberg. The Ferienhotel Kastellatz in Prämajur near Mals is your base.

Back by rail and bus

The Vinschgau railway links Meran and Mals, and in season the BikeLiner bus carries bikes too. Our guests' Reschensee Guest Pass covers rail and bus; the bike may need its own ticket. Check times on suedtirolmobil before you set off, because timetables change.

Road bike: the Stelvio Pass

48 hairpin bends on the South Tyrolean side, built between 1820 and 1825, the climb starts in Prad. Whether the pass road is open is in the province's traffic report; vinschgau.net gives the date of the car-free Stelvio Bike Day.

Mountain bike and easy circuits

Mountain bikers find their core area on the Vinschgauer Sonnenberg. From Schlinig the Sesvenna hut is about two hours away. In the Uina gorge you push, and bikes are banned in the Swiss National Park. Relaxed: the circuit around Lake Reschen, 15.3 km with hardly any climbing.
